I'm still here.

I still read occasionally, just cant seem to make myself post. Although, since facebook has now become "all my family and gossipy relatives can read and talk about anything I write"-book, I may just be coming back to LJ more often. lol.

I'm in the Christmas spirit. I wasnt last week - it was rough, but have put that behind me and said goodbye to the massive amount of money I spent on car repair and am just embracing the Christmas-happy. My life is very blessed and I am thankful for it. My whole family is coming in town to spend the holiday with us. I am blessed, even if I will be driven insane.

Riley is almost 18 months old now and amazes us on a daily basis with how much he learns and grows and is developing that silly fun little personality. I am so in love with him.

Nick finished a rough semester of classes and is still working like crazy. He does the laundry and is in the (extended, lol) process of building Riley a swing set-play structure. He also puts the heating pad my side of the bed to warm it before I get in. I'm in love with him too.

I'm still working. My job is good. Very good. But I still hate leaving my son everyday. The guilt never does go away.

It was freezing just a week ago. We even had snow in Houston. Enough that it actually stuck for about an hour before it melted into slush, lol. Today, it's warm enough to wear short sleeves. Gotta love the south.

I have about a couple of months worth of pics to post. Maybe I'll get around to that next week when the office will be dead. Until then, I hope everyone out there in LJ-land has a beautiful wonderful happy Christmas....I hope everyone finds some joy. :)

My son turns 1 on Friday. I cant believe my baby boy is growing so fast. He walks everywhere now. It's the cutest thing I've ever seen....

Wednesday evening, Riley took his first steps!!!!

Nick and I were both right there to witness it. Excited and proud doesnt even begin to describe how we feel. Life is good. :)

I'm so behind on posting! I still havent put the easter pics up, and of course, I've taken a million more since then.

Riley is 10 1/2 months old and can completely stand on his own. He hasnt figured out how to take a step yet without holding on to something though. But his new favorite thing to do is push around anything that will slide on the floor so it shouldnt be much longer before he's walking on his own. OMG - dont know if we are prepared for that! lol

I had a wonderful Mothers Day with my boys. It included breakfast in bed - and then breakfast again, lol. And a nice leisurly trip to the mall to shop BY MYSELF. It was sooo good.

Nick and I got to go on a date for our anniversary. Last year we did expensive fancy dinner. This year - pizza, beer and a movie. :)

I'm getting all excited about Riley's first birthday. Much cuteness to come.

We are staying home for Memorial Day weekend because Nick is on call so Mom and Alex are coming to visit. But, the next weekend, we are going to BR for a family crawfish boil. It will be a very short trip, but I hope we get to see everyone. You might have to come to us though. It's impossible to go everywhere and see everyone in a weekend trip....

We are slowly but surely working in our yard and trying to get a little landscaping done. Riley's birthday is my deadline to at least get the damn flowerbeds fixed. I would also like to do a lot in the house - but some of it is too expensive right now. I need to make a priority list. And I think painting the bathroom and hallway might be one of my top numbers.
We shall see....

Anyway, let's see if I can actually get some pics up now.

Trying to catch up

We had a great time on our trip. We flew out Saturday and came home Wednesday. We had such a good time while we were there, but the actual traveling part wore us out. Riley did fine on the plane but the all day adventure of aiports, flying, and then traveling by car 3 hours just to get there and home was a bit much. But it was worth it to hang out with the family in a house on a lake in nowhere-ville Georgia and experience Riley's first Easter. We hung out on the dock and watched Nick catch a bunch of fish, played a lot of card games, drank a lot of beer, explored the pretty little city a bit, and just hung out with no agenda. It was nice.

I got a little spoiled and it made it even harder to come back to work yesterday. I still dont think my mind is fully here yet (not that it ever really is these days, lol)
But at least today is Friday!

I've got a lot of pictures to post too. I'll try to get to that soon too.

I need to update. My son says Mama now! It's the best thing I've ever heard. He's also pulling up on everything that is not floor level. He jumps like a maniac in his jumper, crawls like a speed demon and he's so much more silly and full of babbling noises - and more demanding too, lol.

We are doing Easter pics this weekend.

Nick is now 30 years old. I really tried to actually surprise him and for the first time every, I succeeded. We had a fun dinner with great friends Saturday night and the 3 of us had a low-key dinner last night. I made a cake and Riley helped him blow out the candles. I hope he enjoyed it.

I got him tickets to a comedian (I already forgot his name, lol) so we have that coming up in 2 weeks. Then the week after that we fly out to spend Easter at my Uncles lakehouse in Georgia.

Then in May will be our 2nd anniversary. And then June is Riley's first birthday. Crazy.

Don't know when we'll ever get back to BR, but honestly, I'm in no rush. There's so much around here to do. It's warm now and I've got spring fever. I cant wait to take Riley to the zoo and all the festivals. It should be a fun summer.

I will try to post some pics tomorrow.

On a happy note,

MY BABY IS CRAWLING!

It's the cutest thing in the world. And scary - my child is mobile! Life will never be the same.
